Last Meeting :(

Tuesday March 30th is our last science club meeting...:( how sad... The past 6 weeks have flown right by. We will doing a rocket experiment, it is sure to be the "grand finale", so don't miss out! After the experiment we will have a little party and give out certificates. See you Tuesday!

Hovercraft

Today we will be doing a Hovercraft activity! Cant wait to see what you scientists discover and create with this activity!
Remember the 7 step process:
1- Define the problem
2- Think of solutions
3- Choose the best one
4- Design and build
5- Test it
6- Make changes & redesign
7- Share your results

See you at 3:30!

Egg Bungee Jump

Last week on March 16th we created an Egg Bungee Jump. We took nylon stocking and an egg and measured the distance the Egg would drop. The children measured the length then they would try different variables and give predictions on what they thought might happen. It was a great thinking activity--- and we only had three eggs smash do to miscalculations :)
Great job scientists!
(forgot my camera for this activity...sorry)

Zoom Glue Exeriment

On March 9th we created "zoom glue". It was a pretty messy and sticky experiment but a successful one!! Many kids were able to get there glue strap to hold over 100 pennies in the cup--- before the straps gave & tore away from the bowl. Great job scientists!

Zoom Glue

This Tuesday March 9th we will be creating "Zoom Glue". This activity will introduce the students to chemical engineering. This will be a "sticky" activity-- one not to miss!! Remember its early out day so we will be holding club early from 1:30-2:30.

Balloon Car Racers

The kids were challenged this past week trying to get their balloon cars to work. Balancing the wheels and stabilizing the cup was a tricky process but many were
successful! Great job junior engineers.

Balloon Flinker

Our first club meeting was a success!! The kids had a great time trying to figure out how to make their balloons "flink". They learned how engineers solve problems by using a 7 step process.(see if they can tell you the steps!)
See you next Tuesday!

First Club Meeting!!!

Our first club meeting will be this Tuesday February 23rd from 3:30-4:30pm. We will meet in the Liberty Academy commons area.
*
This week the students will be doing a balloon flinker activity that will introduce them to engineering. They will learn how Engineers solve problems using a defined process. They will also learn about gravity and wieght.
*
We would like to thank Christa Clark and Lisa Demming for being willing to teach the two club groups.
*
Club members, get ready to have some fun with Science!
